How to register and activate your account
Registering for an account allows you to post messages, reply to other members and take part in the community.
1. Choose a username
We strongly recommend choosing a username that does not identify you.
Avoid using your real name, date of birth, town, workplace or anything else that could make it easy for someone to recognise you.
A simple pseudonym is usually best.
2. Use an email address you can access
You will need to provide a working email address during registration.
Your email address is not shown publicly on the forum.
3. Complete the registration form
Follow the instructions on the registration page and answer the anti-spam question.
Once you have submitted the form, the forum will send an activation email to the address you provided.
4. Check your email
Open the activation email and click the link inside it to activate your account.
If you cannot see the email, please check your Spam or Junk folder.
It may take a few minutes to arrive.
5. Log in
Once your account has been activated, return to Estranged Parents and log in using your username and password.
Your first post may need approval
As an anti-spam measure, your first post may be held for moderator approval before it appears on the forum.
This is normal and does not mean you have done anything wrong.
Once your first post has been approved, future posts will normally appear immediately.
If something goes wrong
If you do not receive an activation email, cannot log in, or think something has gone wrong with your registration, please contact us using the contact details provided on the site.
A reminder about privacy
You can always change how much information you choose to share in your posts, but information published on a public forum may be read by people who are not registered members.
For that reason, please avoid posting names, addresses, workplaces or other identifying details about yourself or members of your family.
