Cruse Bereavement Support
Cruse is a UK charity offering support to people affected by grief and loss.
Although best known for bereavement support after a death, Cruse also recognises forms of “living grief” — including situations where a parent has lost contact with an adult child.
How they can help:
Cruse offers information about grief, practical coping guidance, and a helpline where you can talk to a trained volunteer.
Helpline: 0808 808 1677
Why we’ve included it:
Estrangement can involve many of the same feelings as bereavement: loss, longing, uncertainty, anger and grief for a relationship that still exists in theory but is no longer part of everyday life. Cruse’s recognition of this kind of “living grief” makes it particularly relevant to estranged parents.
