“Dear Estranged Parents”
Family therapist Whitney Goodman speaks directly to parents who are estranged from an adult child.
The episode looks at some common parental responses to estrangement — such as “I don’t know why this happened”, “I did the best I could” or “they remember it differently” — and considers why those responses may sometimes make reconciliation more difficult.
It also explores how parents might listen differently to an adult child’s account of the relationship without automatically accepting every interpretation as fact.

It may be particularly useful for parents who want to understand why attempts at explanation or defence can sometimes be heard very differently by an adult child.
